FISHING
Greetings from Liam O'Shea,
Now that things have settled down a little with the collaboration between myself and Donwenna, I wanted to take a few minutes and reply to this email.  There's a few things that I want to discuss.  With regards to "those of us who are fishermen", the Hunt Guild email list is just that, an email list.  A place where we can all get together and discuss all of the outdoor activities just as we had been doing on furandscales. Combining the lists just allows us to make sure we don't miss anything of interest as Donwenna and I were cross posting topics and discussions.  It was getting a bit difficult, and time consuming, to make sure we were getting it to both groups.
You do not, I repeat, do not have to be part of the Hunt Guild to
be a part of this list.  As a matter of fact, you do not have to be interested in joining a guild at all.  For the record, Donwenna and
I actually addressed whether fishing would be welcomed by the members of the Hunt Guild list 'before' we made any step in
bringing it all together.  For those who have spent a great of their lives camping and fishing, I consider this group of people to be "down home, pull a log up to the fire and grab a tin cup of coffee" folk.
That is not to say you 'can't' join the guild either.  Donwenna
and I have been discussing beta testing the current Guild specifics for those who are fishers.  If you take the Guild ranking system and break it down, the scoring, etc. could apply to pretty much any activity that would form itself into a guild.  I actually like it more than most because it doesn't centralize on 'what' you do. There's a range of activity needed from persona development, to calligraphy, to your actual skill.  The only thing you might say it lacked were a different set of names for fisherman. That is one of the things Donwenna and I have discussed, but this is still 'very' new.
But I ask you this, when we approach our favorite water hole,
are we not 'hunting' fish?  Granted, whether or not we catch anything doesn't say that we will, or won't, eat that day.  We do
hope to go home with something to put into the pot.  With that in mind do we actually 'need' separate titles within the guild for hunters, hawkers, and fishers?
I do hope this clears up any possible misconception between
this email list and Hunt Guild membership.

Thoughts?

In service,
Liam O'Shea
