SUMMER HUNT - Shire of Earnrokke, An Tir ( July 23, 2010)

SUMMER HUNT ~THE OTHER SPORT OF KINGS!
Always wondered what noblemen did when they weren't at war? What was a favorite pastime of Royalty? What outdoor activity did women ride astride at and carry their own birds of prey with equal ability to the men? It was hunting! Several Kings wrote their own books on this sport, many illuminations showed women riding to the hunt, and falconry was enjoyed by everyone. This is an event not to be missed and it will be your chance to learn about period hunting techniques and game, hunting weapons, and animals used for hunting in period.
Out of Kingdom Guests are frequent visitors to this unique event, which features animals and simulated hunting as well as the amazing Hunter/Huntress Persona Challenge. Bring your hunting horn and join us!
It is Summer on our lovely island.....and we are graced by the beauty of the land and its creatures.
Listen to the hounds bay and the horns sound in the distance! Watch the hunters ride their horses across the fields. Archers come shoot to your heart's content. This is an event for folks to sit back, feast, shoot archery, and be entertained by the animals. Campers are welcome to stay all three days of the weekend.
Also to see past event reports on Summer Hunt - Features ALL animals of the Hunt -horses, dogs, hawks, ferrets.
